Palace Foundation partners with Lorena Ochoa
Foundation to launch philanthropic golf tournament

World Renowned Golfer Lorena Ochoa announced as guest of honor for charitable tournament, with proceeds benefiting local Mexican community. MIAMI, Fla. – (March 2014) Palace Resorts – the company that sets the standard in luxurious, all-inclusive resort accommodations – announced the launch of a golf tournament set to take place at the brand’s signature property, Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, in Cancun May 29-31. The tournament is the result of an alliance between the brand’s philanthropic organization, the Palace Foundation, and the Lorena Ochoa Foundation, a charity overseen by world renowned Mexican golfer, Lorena Ochoa.

The Palace Foundation has spearheaded this tournament with the goal of raising funds for the construction of Casa Hogar Palace, an orphanage for local children. The space will house up to 120 local children between the ages of six and 12 and will feature an education center providing several scholarships on behalf of “La Barranca” Lorena Ochoa’s educational center. “The Palace Foundation is excited to partner with the Lorena Ochoa Foundation. We know that Lorena is an active member and an enthusiast of the philanthropic community through her initiatives, and our main goal is to assist children in need through this charitable, yet fun event,” said Maria Jose Ortega, Palace Foundation Director.

The tournament will take place at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort’s signature Jack Nicklaus Golf Course. Its dynamic layout challenges golfers to navigate through native vegetation, numerous wetlands and strategically placed bunkers. Each of the three nine-hole courses offers a distinctive environment that challenges professionals and amateurs alike. The tournament will welcome golf enthusiasts from all over the world for a $920 registration fee per player, which includes a two-night, all-inclusive stay at the resort and a chance to win various prizes, including a new car. Players will have an opportunity to obtain golf lessons led by Ochoa, in addition to exhibition rounds with each of the teams. Lastly, all participants will secure access to a gala dinner prior to the tournament as well as an exclusive awards luncheon taking place in the resort’s elegant a la carte restaurant La Trattoria, located on the golf course.

A former member of the LPGA and number one golfer in the world for 157 consecutive weeks from 2007 to 2010, Lorena Ochoa is one of the most successful Mexican athletes in the world. Ochoa was the Rolex Player of the Year from 2006 to 2009 and LPGA winning leader from 2006 to 2008. Nice Relaxing Getaway

We stayed for 3 nights as a quick getaway with the goal of just relaxing. Our goal was achieved! Upon arrival and throughout our stay, the bellman, Adeymar, was wonderful. We had several nice conversations with him and he was very helpful, always with a smile on his face!

    Excellent resort, absolutely delightful!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this resort, the people, the food and the setting. We arrived at the Cancun airport and immediately connected with the people for the shuttle service to the dock where our private resort boat was waiting for us.

    Lovely hotel!

It was very quiet and there were not many people staying in the hotel at all. Check in was quick and we were shown to our rooms after a welcome drink, they were lovely and big, with a huge jacuzzi bath in!
