By Farah Fleurima – On the off chance you want to stray from the comforts of any of Palace Resorts’ primo properties in Mexico, believe it or not, the hotels have got you covered. Crazy, right? Believe it! Cancun is a wondrous place filled with history, adventure and incredible sights, and Palace Resorts is your partner in experiencing all of it. To that end, each hotel has tour desks with friendly staffers available to help you find off-property excursions that are right up your alley. Here are a few that caught my eye, and why …
This excursion available from Le Blanc Spa Resort, Beach Palace/Sun Palace, Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort and Playacar Palace didn’t just catch my eye, it captured my fancy, because I visited Tulum during a recent stay at Le Blanc! The Mayan ruins are jam-packed with history and mystery, and the resort offers a doozy of a tour to help you take it all in: a round-trip, air-conditioned bus ride, a bilingual tour guide and entrance fee to the ruins site. Trust me, wear super-comfy shoes to this one, because you’ll be trekking all over the expansive grounds. The walk is so worth it, once you view the preserved ruins and mount a hill that offers a jaw-dropping view of a gorgeous beach below. Just watch where you stand once you bust out your selfie stick …
Isla Mujeres Tour
Another tour that a few Palace properties offer is this day-long excursion to this gorgeous, sky-blue-water-surrounded island for all kinds of adventures. Palace Resorts sails you to its very own beach club on the island, where, for an additional charge, you have the chance to snorkel amid coral reefs and find yourself amidst colorful tropical fish. The tour includes a buffet lunch in an open air restaurant overlooking the sea and a shopping excursion in downtown Isla Mujeres, too, so bring some cash for souvenirs!
Valladolid Colonial and Cenotes
When in the Yucatan, I think it’s fun to get your history on amid all the sunning and funning. To that end, the tour desks at Beach Palace/Sun Palace, Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort and Playacar Palace all offer treks to Valladolid, a wonderfully preserved village showcasing the colonial architecture of the 16th century; it’s also the site of important military milestones in Mexico’s history. In addition to architecture gawking, this tour will also bring you to cenotes, the region’s underground, water-filled caves decked with stalactites and stalagmites. Breathtaking stuff!
Take note, guests who book a stay of five nights or more are privy to the most valuable vacation promotion on record – $1,500 Resort Credit, which can be used on off-site excursions and tours!
