Visit the capital of the Mayan Civilization and discover one of the richest ancient cultures in the world. Located some 126 miles, 2 1/2 hours from Cancun, Chichen Itza, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, was the most important and advanced ceremonial and religious center in Mesoamerica. Attempt to climb the most famous and visited structure on the site, "The Castle" or "Temple of Kukulcan", a magnificent 70 feet (10m) high pyramid. According to tradition, it is visited twice a year by the Mayan god who manifested himself in the form of a serpent of light and descends from the main stairway. Guided tour to the archaeological site lasts two hours.
